Finding Strength to Move Forward in Life
Finding Strength to Move Forward in Life
Everyone experiences anxiety at some point in their lives. However, at some point anxiety can become overwhelming, interfering with daily life. Anxiety becomes a problem when brain areas function inappropriately (or fail to function), setting off a stream of inappropriate or irrational behaviors. Sometimes a person can be generally anxious without really knowing why. The goal for the CCAT professional is to provide psychoeducation and stress-reduction techniques for the client to better understand and work through anxiety.
Somatic Experiencing is a evidence-based therapy that uses a body-centered approach. This therapy views the mind and body as inherently connected. What’s stored in our body affects our thoughts, emotions and body sensations. Subsequently, if we fail to address the body, our mental health tends to suffer. The goal of SE is to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in the body. When stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps to release, recover, and become more resilient by building skills for self-awareness, recognition and processing of thoughts and emotions related to trauma that remains in the body.
Sadness is something we all experience from time to time. However, when there is a persistent feeling of emptiness, unhappiness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, you may be experiencing depression, and you're not alone. Since symptoms of depression can vary widely from person to person, an eclectic approach to therapy is used to look at mind, body and social factors that may be contributing to the condition. An individual treatment plan is then developed using therapeutic techniques to best address the presenting issues..
Everyone goes through change, however it can sometimes be difficult without help. An important part of therapy can be helping individuals walk through challenging seasons of life. Depending on the mental health needs, cognitive-behavioral therapy can be the starting point for lifestyle changes towards healthier patterns, thoughts and relationships.
